CHICAS Research Themes

We are a research group with internationally leading expertise in epidemiology and biostatistics. We work on a range of research projects that focus on infectious disease modeling, geospatial statistics and population health data. Through our research, we strive to identify patterns, disparities, and trends in health, and inform the development of targeted interventions to improve health outcomes for all.

Geospatial Statistics

The Geospatial Statistics theme focuses on the use of spatially referenced health data to understand how risk varies over space in answer to specific public health questions, such as the development of more targeted health interventions and assessment of their impact.

Infectious Disease Modelling

The research of the Infectious Disease Modelling theme, augmented by epidemiological studies, aims to better understand networks and transmission, explaining and predicting the dynamics of epidemics and pandemics.

Population Health Data

Within our Population Health Data theme, we focus on research that utilises routinely collected health data within specific areas that include, among others, understanding of inequalities in access to healthcare, modelling of patient pathways through health care systems as well as design of approaches to employ routinely collected data to improve diagnostic accuracy and inform interventions.
